5G Health Concerns Overshadowed by COVID-19 Conspiracy Theories

Investigate Europe has written a series of comprehensive articles on 5G relating to health and the environment. They point out that 5G is a mass experiment. In their latest article, Real 5G issues overshadowed by Covid-19 conspiracy theories, they underscore that the critical discussion of health effects has been upstaged and buried with the current conspiracy theories about 5G causing COVID-19. Cell towers have even been destroyed by alleged conspiracy theorists.

The authors state that there is, to date, no known association between COVID-19 and 5G, however, people are hesitant now to bring up any health or environmental concerns, merging these all into “conspiracy theories”.  This is an effective, well-polished industry strategy.  Big Telecom wishes to keep any discussion of health effects of wireless radiation taboo, thus articles are being circulated in many news outlets that shut off any debate. The Business Insider published “I’m the scientist who sets the global guidelines on 5G safety. Take it from me: 5G doesn’t cause cancer or spread COVID-19“ , interviewing Dr.  Eric van Rongen, Vice Chair of ICNIRP (International Commission on Non Ionizing Radiation Protection) .

No Basis in Science or… No Science?

Dr. van Rongen states these theories have no basis in science. While we all agree COVID-19 does not travel on microwaves, Dr. van Rongen fails to mention that 5G encompasses not only shallow penetrating high frequency millimeter waves, but also low and mid frequency bands near frequencies used for years in Wi Fi, as well as 2G, 3G and 4G technologies. These wireless frequencies have been found to have biological effects in a long list of robust studies, including the National Toxicology Program study on Cell Phones and Cancer. The NTP study found “clear evidence” of cancer as well as DNA damage from non ionizing radiation.  The increasingly complex mix of biologically active frequencies we are now exposed to have not been studied on humans or animals. An Orwellian twist indeed….there is no science therefore there is no harm.

Immune Effects Still Questioned

The high frequency millimeter wavelengths that are part of the spectrum used in 5G do not deeply penetrate skin. Dr. Leszczynski responds, “This is being used as assurance: It’s only the skin, it doesn’t go into the brain, everything is fine, But it is not so fine. The skin is our largest organ and our largest immune-response organ; it is full of cells that regulate our immune response. If we mess up the immune response in our skin, we mess up the immune response of our bodies altogether”.

van Rongen states there is no proof whatsoever that there is an effect on the immune system. ARPANSA, the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency also proclaims there are no immune effects from non ionizing radiation. This does, however,  ignore a growing list of studies showing  immune toxicity in different parts of the immune system from wireless radiofrequency radiation (RF). In fact, international studies on the immune system were used to determine the first  RF Standards used historically by most of Europe and still used today by many countries including Italy, Russia and Poland. These limits are more precautionary and are lower than that of the United States and Canada.

Is 5G Safe?

The title of  Dr. Moskowitz’s article in Scientific American summarizes the evidence.  He authored, We Have No Reason to Believe 5G Is Safe.The technology is coming, but contrary to what some people say, there could be health risks. Dr. Moskowitz writes, “Yet, since the FCC adopted these limits based largely on research from the 1980s, the preponderance of peer-reviewed research, more than 500 studies, have found harmful biologic or health effects from exposure to RFR at intensities too low to cause significant heating.” 

In a more recent article penned by Dr. Moskowitz Sept 18, 2020 , Regulators Steamroll Health Concerns as the Global Economy Embraces 5G, in the Washington Spectator, he notes, “In a Washington Post op-ed (June 4), “5G conspiracy theories threaten the U.S. recovery,” Thomas Johnson Jr., the Federal Communications Commission’s general counsel, declared: “Conjectures about 5G’s effect on human health are long on panic and short on science.” The FCC, however, has been “short on science” for more than two decades. Along with the World Health Organization, the FCC abdicated its responsibility to protect the public’s health from hazards associated with exposure to radio frequency, or RF, radiation…Recently, the Environmental Health Trust and Children’s Health Defense, along with multiple plaintiffs, sued the FCC over its inadequate RF exposure limits and cell phone testing procedures.”

Investigate Europe interviewed respected researchers Dr. Dariusz Leszczynski, former advisor at the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority, who notes, “We simply don’t know. We only have a few studies, it is nothing. The only response of the industry is that 5G is low-power and therefore no problem”, says Dariusz Leszczynski.  Dr. David Gee, former Senior Advisor at the European Environmental Agency, discussed the Precautionary Principle, which is a policy used by the European Union to prevent environmental or health issues before they are irreversible. He highlighted that,“Policymakers often want to wait for “beyond all reasonable doubt” strength of evidence. But by definition, that comes too late. Once the evidence of harm is given, the harm is done.”

Dr.Esra Neufeld, author of a critical article on heat production from 5G millimeter wavelengths states ,”The bad thing about 5G is that there are practically no biological experiments that show how this radiation actually affects the skin.”  The well written investigative article concludes there is still widespread uncertainty about 5G and a lack of scientific research that demonstrates this technology is safe.

The science is not straightforward, but rather complex and involving many scientific disciplines aside from engineering. These include toxicology, physics, biology, medicine, immunology and genetics.

Disinformation

There is agreement that there is much disinformation about 5G, unfortunately, there is more emphasis by business to market this untested technology rather than to engage in thoughtful scientific discussion or conduct independent research.  Nevertheless industry continues to manufacture a need for this technology to government agencies and manipulate public opinion, as clearly stated in the recent in-depth analysis of 5G Deployment: Sate of Play in Europe, USA and Asia.

Robert Kennedy Jr. Speaks Out Against 5G

Robert Kennedy Jr, founder of the Children’s Health Defense, stood up to powerful interests giving a passionate speech to a large crowd in Berlin, Germany on August 28, 2020, discussing 5G, democracy and totalitarianism. The compelling speech warned us to think for ourselves and search for the truth, guarding against corporate power that puts profits over public health. Kennedy questioned the need for 5G technology which will be omnipresent and personally invasive. He underscored well known critical issues regarding 5G technology that have been a concern of many, including broad human surveillance and data harvesting. Some have accused him of speaking to Nazi’s in Berlin about 5G, however he stated he was doing just the opposite, enlightening people to the threats of totalitarianism which attempts to control virtually all aspects of social life, including the economy, education, art, science, private life and morals of citizens. Totalitarianism was initiated in Germany and elements spread to Italy, the Soviet Union and China.  Corporate control of the media that twists the truth is also problematic as discussed in Orwell’s novel Nineteen Eighty Four: A Novel,  which highlights the manipulation of facts, truth and freedom of speech by governments.

Robert F Kennedy  Jr was in Berlin to launch the Children’s Health Defense Europe. He spoke at a press conference prior to the outdoor speech to explain the history behind starting his organization Children’s Health Defense, the issues of children’s continued exposures to toxins such as pesticides and why 5G is also a toxic exposure.  It is a similarly compelling clear speech and message.

The Children’s Health Defense has filed a lawsuit along with Environmental Health Trust, against the FCC for failure to protect children from harmful effects of wireless radiation by not updating safety guidelines to include non thermal effects, among other issues.
